Iphones should have a seprit board?

just looking at the amount of poasts on this board, they are mostly about the iPhone.
should the IPhone empire (or smartphone empire) have its own board ?

uh, no. bad call

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 13-Sep-2012 22:47:00

Nope. Its a cellphone. Even though some of us think its a pet.

Post 4 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 0:53:59

I think taking cell phone talk out of geeks are us or accessible devices was enough seperation. I don't think any particular brand of phone should get its own board.

Agree with the last three posters.

Post 6 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 3:59:59

i think we should leave it as it is.

Post 7 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 8:50:15

Why don't we ask the staff to create a separate zone BBs, just for JHRadio, so he can customize every detail of every feature exactly how he likes it. How's that for a suggestion?

Post 8 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 12:30:07

how about no.
It was just a thought.
i was thinkin probably it wouldn't fly. maybe the smartphones are like pets, wayne. LOL
Actually now that I think on it, if there was a seprit board for featured phones, it'd probably get very little traffic, considering how little featured phones are being manufactured.

Post 9 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 14:40:18

I agree with Jess. if John had a separate ZoneBBS, he wouldn't have to ask for all these things, cause it'd be just the way he wanted it. and, anytime he wanted a new feature, he'd have the ability to customize it already. so, there wouldn't be a need to overload the boards/users/admins with this stuff.

Post 10 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 14-Sep-2012 14:42:21

i'd have to know a tun of programming in PHP or whatever this thing is written in first.
i still say how about no.

Post 11 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Saturday, 15-Sep-2012 0:56:50

Even though I disagree with this particular suggestion, I do agree with John's right to make as many suggestions as he wants. After all, it was the admins who added a suggestions board, right? And since they don't seem to pay attention to the suggestions boards in recent years, there's really no harm in people making unrealistic suggestions.

Post 12 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Saturday, 15-Sep-2012 13:56:30

Of course not. if there was harm in it, he'd be banned.

Post 13 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 15-Sep-2012 21:33:53

He has had some good ones, so leave him alone. Lol

Post 14 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 13:25:49

if that logic applied in society, politicians wouldn't get half the crap they do.

Post 15 by TechnologyUser2012 (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 16:36:28

I like most on here don't think the iphone should have it's own board. The iPhone is still considered a cell phone and one cell phone board is enough.

Post 16 by Juliet (move over school!) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 21:37:26

Personally, and this is just a general statement, not a bash to anyone in particular on here, but I think that the board should be left just as is, and those who don't want to read a certain post don't have to, just like a mailing list.

Post 17 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 22:00:25

Man, saw some pretty snotty comments up in there. Come on guys, this is just a board post with some thoughts that he wanted to write down.

Post 18 by Striker (Consider your self warned, i'm creative and offensive like handicap porn.) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 22:11:11

I don't think the iPhone needs its own section, but I do think that all the posting of nearly identical questions about it on new topics needs to stop.
Sure some of the questions are not exactly the same, but many are really damn close, and have been answered before, and before, and before, and before...

Post 19 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Sunday, 16-Sep-2012 22:27:03

That suggestion would solve two problems: it would help to even out the subject matter on Cell phone topics, and would help cut down on the flood of like topics in general. Now, if only suggesting a little effort and inteligence on the part of the user were a popular suggestion...

Post 20 by starfly (99956) on Monday, 17-Sep-2012 11:15:40

I agree, an Iphone is just a smart phone, it has new users or older users who have questions about it or its apps, so no it does not need its own board. I am not saying that because I am a android user just suggesting the cell phone board stay as it is currently.

Post 21 by luckyluc20 (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 17-Sep-2012 12:53:34

I don't really check out every post in every board, but I don't see what the problem is with JH_Radio making a suggestion. I do think that as long as a thread has something definite to do with iPhones that should be enough, though. Why do people seem to wnt to flame him? He hasn't done anything to me, so more power to him. :-)

Post 22 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 18-Sep-2012 10:59:58

Well thanks guys.
like i said it was just a thought.
peace people.
Maybe its kinda like lio said:
the iPhone is the "It" thing to have right now. would explain why so many grab it, apple store ran out in an hour of the preorder, and there's shitloads of questions about it on boards such as this one.
i'm glad there's options available for those who for whatever reason choose to not use an iPhone.Choice is a beautiful thing!

Post 23 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Tuesday, 18-Sep-2012 11:46:57

Hm if iPhone had a separate board, what would the poor Android users do? For every topic where an iPhone app is discussed, we need at least 5 posts on the same topic describing Android apps, each one using a separate home screen or accessibility tool to use it.
Sad but true: When Android first came out, long before either was accessible, many of us thought the upside was there was no religion to it, like Apple. Many of us now Apple users tend to hold our noses when going into the Apple store, on account of the ra-ra-ra fanfreak phenomenon. Android used to have a shred of credibility just because it didn't have this fanfreakdom. However, now, the Fandroids are actually more ra-ra-ra religious about their Android than the twinkle-toed Apple fanboys ever could have been. I guess the only thing they may want to know is, one reason Apple elitists have been kicked around since the 90s is just that religion that the Android users have adopted, and outcompeted Apple with.
At least Raspberry Pi and Robotic Operating System don't have this sort of religion. But many of us could never have guessed Androidsters would have stooped to that level.
So, I used to think I could go into an Android store without holding my nose. But from what I see here and other online forums, they're more ra-ra-ra-ish now than the Apple kiddies playing with their iTunes. I would never have believed this in 2007 when the Droid first came out.

BTW for the record I was talking 'bout leo Laporte when i spoke of the apple claims )(heard this weekend.) not you leo.

I agree with others here. No need for the iPhone to have a separate board. If we have a board for every specific thing, the boards would be even more fragmented than they already are. This reminds me of when a user wanted a board specifically for talk of guidedogs, and other users and staff agreed it should just stay under Animal House.

Ocean, maybe your comments were harsh, but the beauty of them is that they're true. So, thanks for provoking some thought, and giving me a laugh at the same time.

Post 27 by starfly (99956) on Wednesday, 19-Sep-2012 8:17:14

Okay you’re wrong now about that LeoGuardian the need for different tools to get each job done in ICS and Jelly bean, gingerbread depending on the manufacture I would agree. After using ICS and JB your comment does not hold water what so ever. Before you post, keep in mind I have had 3 android phone's had an IOS device and used about 4 IOS devices. Along with crap tunes” ITunes" for windows. If there were a separate board for the Iphone I would still use my beautiful galaxy sIII over an Iphone any day. Just my thoughts here, so please any one who post comments like LeoGuardian's go read up on ICS and JB "ice-cream sand widge and jelly bean", then we can talk. I will say nothing is perfect, not even an Iphone or my galaxy sIII. Yes at one time I was an apple fan boy then android came along I woke up and put the apple juice down and had a moment in my life where I relize apple really did not come up with much, just package their devices and Idea in one pretty picture and sold it. Even if it ment steeling it, then calling it their idea. :) Yes I am going to get flack for this so have at it.

Post 28 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 19-Sep-2012 11:19:13

Sister Dawn, I do agree that my comments were harsh; maybe too harsh. But my point is: if everyone had a feature they didn't like, and the staff added the option to customize it upon suggestion, this site would eventually become a cluster fuck of confusing custom options that would probably scare some new users away. it's one thing to ask for custumization on a highly demanding feature, like, say, for example, the whole issue with the philosophy/religion board awhile back where a lot of people were debating it, even before the suggestion was brought up, but to make a suggestion that something should have a separate topic altogether just because, in your view, there are too many threads on said topic, is asking a little much of the staff who control a site of 6000 plus members. So, I made a sarcastic joke at the expense of the original poster, and I appologize that I caused offence with said joke, but I'm certainly not sorry for making my point very clear.

Post 29 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 19-Sep-2012 13:20:03

I can't believe you're apologizing for what you said, Jess. the point you made was valid, and if others have a problem with it, why feel obligated to retract it? just saying.

Post 30 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Wednesday, 19-Sep-2012 16:46:26

O, believe me, I'm not retracting the point; just the sarcastic nature of it.

Post 31 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 20-Sep-2012 5:13:39

Ocean, I wasn't criticizing you for your harshness, and I wasn't offended by your post. As I said, I was actually amused, and agreed with you completely. I guess what didn't come across in my post a bit back was that I liked how clear you made your point, as well as your sarcastic wit in doing so. Some people around here need to hear that kind of thing pointed out in that kind of way. So, no offense taken or criticism meant.

Post 32 by rdfreak (THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE-BLUE KANGA-KICKIN AUSIE) on Friday, 21-Sep-2012 2:30:09

wow some people on here are sure touchy!
As someone rightly said, it is a suggestions board afterall; correct me if i'm wrong; does it not say "suggestions board" or am I dreaming again? :)
